The Farmer-Labor Movement - A Film Screening & Discussion

Friday September 27 | 6:00-8:00PM

The YES! House | 726 Prentice St, Granite Falls, MN

The Farmer-Labor Education Committee (FLEC) will be screening the documentary film "The Farmer Labor Movement: A Minnesota Story" followed by a discussion at The YES! House. After the film, and in honor of the Farmer Labor Movement 100th anniversary, an artistic commemoration of its history will be created and the artists creating it need your input!

Artist Gita Ghei and her team will be listening to inspiration and ideas to help inform a Farmer Labor Movement commemorative public art piece which will include 3D artifacts and a 2D "Farmer Labor Current" newspaper. The art team will take part in the post screening discussion, offering a short survey paper for visual and written input for the newspaper, and will provide blank protest signs as an activity.

“You Betcha! Farmer Labor Solidarity is Possible” is a project of the Farmer-Labor Education Committee (FLEC) and Monument Lab's Re:Generation, supported by the Mellon Foundation. FLEC seeks to revive and commemorate Minnesota's forgotten Farmer-Labor movement history by bringing Minnesotans together across divides. You Betcha! will be an embedded-artist process that seeks to link the past with the present/future through facilitated, collaborative memory and visioning.

Come ready to share your stories, experiences and visions! This event is free and open to the public, with complimentary snacks and refreshments.
