Artist Talk & 5Rhythms Dance w/ Dana Kazuko
Thursday, April 3 | 6 – 8:30 PM
@ The YES! House | 726 Prentice St, Granite Falls, MN
Dana will be staying at The YES! House for a 5 day residency and as part of the exchange she will be hosting an event at The YES! House on Thursday, April 3rd from 6-8:30 PM.
Dana will start the evening out with an artist talk sharing a little bit about herself and her work followed by a 5rhythms set. 5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice that blends dance, meditation, and self-expression.
It is designed to take dancers on a transformative journey through five distinct rhythms—Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness—each representing different aspects of life and emotion.
Flowing: A fluid, continuous movement that connects dancers to their bodies, breath, and the ground. It embodies receptivity, intuition, and grace.
Staccato: Defined, sharp, and percussive movements that express clarity, passion, and direction. It’s connected to the fire of expression.
Chaos: A wild, uncontrolled release where dancers surrender to the rhythm, letting go of inhibitions, emotions, and ego.
Lyrical: Light, playful, and expansive, this rhythm invites freedom, creativity, and a sense of effortless movement.
Stillness: A meditative, deep, and introspective state where movements slow down, allowing for integration, rest, and connection to the present moment.
Unlike structured dance styles, 5Rhythms is about personal exploration rather than choreography. It’s commonly practiced in ecstatic dance settings, where participants move intuitively, without judgment, allowing music and rhythm to guide them into altered states of consciousness, healing, and connection.
This event is free and open to the public with refreshments served!
